Annie Windley, a 21-year-old from Derbyshire, England, is in recovery after struggling with an eating disorder for five years. At her lowest, she weighed just 29kg (63 pounds), causing severe medical complications and putting her at risk of heart failure. Her battle began in 2012, but she started her recovery journey in 2017,
realizing that healing was a process she had to undertake for herself. Through her love of running, she regained strength, even completing the Chesterfield Half Marathon in 2023.Annie now encourages others by sharing her story, emphasizing that self-respect and focusing on personal passions—like running—helped her shift her mindset from restrictive behaviors to healthier habits. She’s gained three stones in four months and is at her healthiest weight since 2014. Her message is clear: recovery is possible, and true happiness comes from self-acceptance, not physical appearance.
